DOMINATE on LinkedIn with these Killer Tips
Hey founders —
It may be Saturday, but here at LAUNCH, we never stop obsessing about ways to give our founders an edge.
Aidan Brannigan, founder of No Boring Brands, built his reputation helping B2B brands stand out online. He’s turned writing silly sketches and memes into a VERY serious business, driving over 300 million organic views annually. In a recent talk, he shared his best practices for using LinkedIn to generate leads without relying on paid ads…
Why LinkedIn? Most social platforms make it difficult to target your ideal customers directly. You can post excellent content, but reaching the right people often relies on algorithms and even luck. LinkedIn is different. It allows you to search, find, and connect with your ICP specifically, making it the most direct path to building a relevant audience.
Building the Right Connections
Start by searching for your ICP’s job title (ex., CMO or Marketing Lead). Instead of targeting first-degree connections (who are ALREADY in your network), focus on second- and third-degree connections who share mutual contacts.
When sending a connection request, pair it with a short note. Aidan recommends a disarming opener like: “Do you run socials for [company name]?”
This works because it sparks conversation without feeling like a pitch. People love clarifying their role; even a correction keeps the door open for engagement.
Pro tip: At large or public companies, skip C-level executives (who often don’t manage their own accounts) and go a level down to VPs or Directors.
To scale this process, consider using tools like Dripify to automate outreach. Aim for around 20 targeted connections per day. Over time, this will build a highly relevant audience of thousands of potential buyers.
Creating Content That Sticks
Consistency is the #1 rule. Post daily, or at least maintain a steady rhythm. Think of LinkedIn like a lottery: the more you post, the more chances you have to “win.”
Aidan recommends:
Video first. LinkedIn prioritizes video, and it’s the most engaging format for storytelling.
Post at peak times. Monday through Thursday between 12 and 2 p.m. ET works best, but don’t ignore weekends, when competition is less intense.
Focus on pain points. Instead of talking about your product, highlight the struggles and frustrations your ICP faces without it. Remember: humor and relatability go a long way.
Research communities. Reddit and niche Facebook groups are goldmines for raw, unfiltered conversations about your ICP’s challenges.
Stay unpredictable. Memes, skits, bold opinions, and unexpected angles catch attention and set you apart from generic “thought leadership” posts.
And don’t be discouraged if your first few months fall flat. Almost nobody sees your early posts. Use that time to experiment and refine.
Optimize Your Profile
Your LinkedIn profile is the landing page for your brand. Within 10 seconds, visitors should understand EXACTLY who you are and what you offer.
Use your banner to explain your service quickly.
Highlight credibility with top clients or results.
Keep copy short, punchy, and entertaining.
Choose a professional headshot and edit your URL for SEO.
Pin one featured post that explains who you are, what you do, and why people should follow you.
Organic > Paid
Paid traffic stops the moment budgets get cut. Organic content, on the other hand, is a 24/7 salesperson—always visible, always working. Consistent organic posting builds a compounding asset that no ad spend can replace.
